Cats, Cats ... and More Cats!!!

I was walking into our family room Wednesday when I noticed 3 of the neighbor boys staring at our tree. I was wondering what they were looking at when I noticed branches & tree limbs moving around. After looking closer I saw that orange/black/white cat, that is SO friendly and comes around often, was up in our tree. After looking even closer I saw a black thing jumping around from branch to branch. It was a squirrel! I've never seen one around our house & certainly not in our tree(s). I very much enjoy feeding birds and we have several bird feeders in that tree alone. I'm not sure how it happened but I'm guessing the cat chased the squirrel up the tree. It was funny because the squirrel was determined to get to the bird food regardless of the cat being right there in the tree. It jumped all around until it could safely get to the feeder, open the lid, and dive right in. It was quite a site to see. I put a little arrow pointing to the cat because it is kind of hard to see.
The cat waited forever before it finally made a move. You can see the squirrel running up one of the branches.
Later I was up in Calob's room & saw the cat on the neighbor's roof. How it got up there ... who knows. What it was doing up there ... who knows. That cat certainly had an interesting Wednesday though!

Wednesday was also a big day for my cats. It was their annual appointments. Poor kitties. It's always SO stressful for them (and me too). I guess everything went ok except for Tamara. Right when the vet saw her she mentioned how much older she was looking. She definitely is. She has gray hair & everything. I mentioned her failing hearing & eyesight as well. The vet checked & said she is TOTALLY blind and almost totally deaf. Oh my ... it just kills me! Tamara is my baby. My 1st baby. Then it was decided that because of her tangles & such the vet would try to shave her (mainly her belly). She sent me on a "10-minute walk" to get me out of the office because she didn't want me to hear anything. I went outside for 10 minutes & went back into the room. It wasn't enough time. I could hear Tamara making the most horrible noises. You would seriously think they were killing her. It was AWFUL! I was in tears & basically beside myself. I know it was what she needed but I hate to think of her scared & alone like that ... with people coming at her with clippers. Ugh. The vet said Samson was fat (ha, big surprise there), Tamara was old and Nalu was normal. My cats ... I love them with all my heart but I wish it were easier some times.

My tower of cats
Tamara on top, Nalu in the middle
& Samson on the bottom

This is Tamara all curled up, but you can kind of see her shaved belly. My poor baby!

Your orange/black/white cat (you should go ahead & give it a name) is hilarious, surreptitiously stalking the squirrel, and then getting on the roof! And the tower of cats is quite entertaining...I like this picture even better than the one last year of them side-by-side.

Oh honey...I'm so sorry about Tamara. I hope she keeps going for years and years. It sucks when you lose your baby. Trust me. Still hard to talk about over a year later. I miss my Peepers Kitty every single day. :'(

Maybe next time they should send you on a 30 minute walk just to be safe.

I don't think we have Tower of Cats here. Must be a WA thing.

I bet that squirrel is glad to know that you put up squirrel feeders...you will never get rid of him now!

Poor Tamara. She's so sweet and so sad!

Nalu...Normal? Hmmmm....

And Samson isn't fat he's just livin' large!

Boy you are lucky that you don't normally have squirrels around your house! My poor dog wishes it was the same here. Those mean little poops get on the phone line or the fence and laugh at him and tease him!

Love the tower of cats! But I'm sorry to hear about Tamara. How old is she?
