Herbst No More!!!

Yesterday Calob got his Herbst off ... Yay!!! As you may (or may not) know, Calob was born with his lower jaw quite a bit back which affected his teeth, eating, etc. His orthodontist suggested using the Herbst appliance. I have to say, it was SO difficult in the beginning. He was in TONS of pain but seeing him now, it was TOTALLY worth it!!! His jaw looks normal and that's great. He even commented yesterday that he can't stick any fingers between his top & bottom teeth (he used to be able to fit 2 fingers in there). He'll have full braces for probably another year or so and then (fingers crossed) he'll be finished. Callie is next. Her mouth is definitely worse than Calob's ... poor thing. I see the Herbst in her future. :(
Here are some pictures (not mine) of the appliance.

Calob is so brave to have endured the Herbst, but thank goodness, he did. Good job, Calob!!!

I'm glad you explained what all that meant, because I was a little bit afraid at first. Whew!

Congrats to Calob for enduring that without planning a full assault on his orthodontist. Well, maybe he did plan it, but kudos for not carrying out the plan! I'm not sure I would have been able to restrain myself.
