Skit Explanations

I realize that D.I. doesn't always make sense to someone who isn't involved in the program. I asked the kids to give me information to pass along (based on the pictures I posted) in hopes of clearing up a few questions you might have. Hopefully this helps at least a little. ☺

Callie's skit - Private D.I.

Superstition: If a dog eats grass, then you'll get rain.

Callie (purple shirt) plays the hysterical person. Catyler (orange shirt) is the logical person. Kelsey (yellow shirt) is the villian. Makenna (red shirt) is the sleuth - Hal Lipset. Kira (blue shirt) is the bug for Hal. Emily (dark blue shirt) and Liz (green shirt) were the sound design.

There are 3 film genres that have to be incorporated throughout the skit. For Callie's team they were given melodrama, action/adventure & western.

Throughout the skit, the villian is trying to convince Callie to give him (her) money so she won't have bad luck (the rain). The sleuth helps Callie & Catyler with the S.O.D. (Superstition Origin Detector) to let them know that the superstition is in fact, a superstition, and therefore not real.

Calob's skit - Instinct Messaging

The team picks a Featured Creature and they have to demonstrate forms of communication for the chosen creature. They have to incorporate at least 1 3-dimensional prop into the skit.

Calob is the narrator.

The life of a chicken: from birth to the dinner table.

The chicken hatches, the mother gets taken away and then the chick goes to the coop. Next scene is the chicken graveyard. The chickens go to the slaughter house & eventually get turned into chicken nuggets where Calob buys them at McDonald's.

After reading the explanations of the skits, I'm even more impressed! The subject matter is indepth and even complicated, so the kids are really challenged to produce those skits. Good job, Calob and Callie!!!!

Kudos to all the kids on both teams for thinking up such great skits! No way could I come up with that stuff!
